1I highley recommend booking your room ahead of time. Try cheaptickets.com or hotels.com you will find prices cheaper if you book online before you go. Walk in guests are usually charged a premium price. Bring up Disneyland on yahoo maps and use the "find nearby" feature to find places close, there are many hotels and motels near by, some are within walking distance and some are not, some will say they are but really quite a distance. The address for Disneyland is 1313 W Harbor Blvd, Anaheim Ca, the places on Harbor near that address will be closest. The other major cross street for the resort is Katella, places on Katella will be a longer walk since the walk in Entrance is on Harbor but many places will offer free shuttle or the city runs shuttles for about $3.00 a day.
Some of the places I have stayed are:
Motel 6 (formerly Red Roof Inn)
100 W Disney way
OK place, cheap, not within walking distance and no where nearby to eat.
Days Inn Anaheim West
1030 W. Ball Road
Ball & Disneyland Drive
Anaheim, CA 92802 US
Phone: 714-520-0101
Nicer than motel 6, free wireless, cont breakfast, not within walking distance but very close to Disney parking garage if you have a car, no where close to eat.
Ramada Maingate on Harbor, Within walking distance, Cant Breakfast last time I was there, lots of places to eat nearby.

2Definitely book a room ahead of time if you want to stay close to the parks. Theres alot of hotels right around Disneyland that are under $100 a night. I’d suggest the Anaheim Plaza, the Radisson, the Cortona Inn, or Jolly Roger, as far as affordability and convenience. If you would rather take the cheapest one, go for the Parkside Inn..its actually not that bad, just not as nice as the others. The location is great though…its right across the street from the entrance to Disneyland and California Adventure. Ive stayed in probably 5 or 6 hotels around Disneyland, and the only bad one that I stayed in was called the Little Boy Blue Motel, although that was before a huge rennovation project on a handful of hotels around Disneyland. It might not be as bad anymore as it was about 7 years ago.

3Try the Super 8 at 415 W Katella. It is literally around the corner from Disneyland. From the door of your room to the gate at Disneyland is about a ten minute walk. This place is clean, has fantastic staff… and is very affordable. Look up the reviews on expedia.com. I believe something like 80% of people recomend it.
I am a Canadian bus tour operator that makes my living bringing people to Disneyland. We always stay at the Super 8 and never have any problems. Its just a good, basic room. When you go to Disneyland you just need a place to store your stuff anyhow, why waste a bunch of money on a room you will barely be in.
Make sure to ask for Peter and tell him that "Barrett Tours" from Canada recomended you to his motel.

4Everyone’s version of cheap is different…but if you truly want to not make a resv. & just walk in when you get there-I would suggest any of the places in the direct vicinity of Disneyland that look decent to you, and there are LOTS!!! Most of them are not chains(although Marriott & hilton are right nearby) so just take a peek and see for yourself when you get there. Since schools are back in & summer is officially over I would think you’ll be fine w/o a resv!!!
