Tour both the Adventureland Bazaar and the Retired Tropical Imports Shops. This Disneyland video is from around 2003. The Tropical Imports shop used to sell you rubber snakes and shrunken and life size human skulls. It was a little macabre, but it fit into Adventureland of yesterday. I bought a life size glow in the dark skull when i was like, 10 (1985ish) man, those were the days.

The attraction closed at Disneyland on November 2, 1992, having first been removed from most visitor documentation by 1991. One reason behind the closure was that the controversial attraction ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter was to open in the building as part of CEO Michael Eisner’s ambitious “Disney Decade”. Along with Alien Encounter, The Timekeeper and “Plectu’s Fantastic Galactic Revue” would have opened in the radical and richly-detailed “Tomorrowland 2055″ concept. However, the “Tomorrowland 2055″ project was cancelled in early 1993 when the Disneyland Paris project suddenly found itself in almost a billion dollars’ debt. Michael Eisner started cutting costs around the company, and was not happy with the estimated cost of the Tomorrowland project, though he had liked the idea. Start of construction on Disneyland’s New Tomorrowland was changed from Fall 1994 to Spring 1997, but Alien Encounter, The Timekeeper, and Plectu’s Fantastic Galactic Revue never opened. The building remained unused until it officially reopened as a restaurant, Redd Rockett’s Pizza Port in Disneyland’s New Tomorrowland on May 22, 1998.

Disneyland Opening Day in color @ Disneyland Main Street Cinema RARE NEW Disneyland Park was opened to the public on July 18, 1955 with only 20 attractions. A special “International Press Preview” event was held on Sunday, July 17, 1955, which was only open to invited guests and the media. The Special Sunday events, including the dedication, were televised nationwide and anchored by three of Walt Disney’s friends from Hollywood: Art Linkletter, Bob Cummings, and Ronald Reagan. ABC broadcast the event live on its network. The event did not go smoothly. The park was overcrowded as the by-invitation-only affair was plagued with counterfeit tickets. Only 11000 people were expected to show up, but a staggering 28154 was the eventual population. Movie stars and other famous figures scheduled to come every two hours showed up all at once. All major roads nearby were empty. The temperature was an unusually high 101 °F (38 °C), and a plumbers’ strike left many of the park’s drinking fountains dry. Disney was given a choice of having working fountains or running toilets and he chose the latter. This generated negative publicity since Pepsi sponsored the park’s opening; disappointed guests believed the inoperable fountains were a cynical way to sell soda. The asphalt that had been poured just that morning was so soft that ladies’ high-heeled shoes sank into it. Vendors ran out of food. A gas leak in Fantasyland caused Adventureland, Frontierland, and Fantasyland to close for the …
The attraction takes 87 guests at a time on a s… Added: November 20, 2007 The attraction takes 87 guests at a time on a simulated hang glider tour of the Golden State, flying over San Francisco, Redwood Creek, Napa Valley, Monterey, Lake Tahoe, Yosemite National Park, Palm Springs (actually shot in nearby La Quinta over the golf course at PGA West), Camarillo, Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, San Diego, Malibu and Los Angeles. The ride ends with a flight over Disneyland at Christmas, with a Christmas parade traveling down Main Street, USA, decorations on Sleeping Beauty Castle, and fireworks. Ride design: The vehicle (called a carriage) consists of three rows of seats under a wing-like canopy. After guests have been safely restrained in the vehicle, the canopy descends and a cantilever system lifts the chairs forward and into the air with the guests’ feet dangling free. The vehicle is lifted into a huge IMAX dome movie screen onto which scenes of California are projected. Since the vehicle is moved forward into the dome, the effect is such that guests can only see the images projected on the screen and are given the sensation of flight. To enhance the illusion of flight, subtle vertical movements of the seats are synchronized to the film. According to cast members who operate this attraction, the carriages do not move horizontally. Sensations of horizontally are created via a combination of vertical carriage movement and the turning image on the screen. In addition …
view construction updates, and an inside look at the plans and the attraction model. The attraction will be set underwater. At Disney California Adventure, the building is modeled after a 20th-century aquarium. The Palace of Fine Arts replica from Golden Dreams will remain but redecorated with an Ariel statue on top.[9] A garden and water play area is planned to accompany the ride; it will be located next to the show building. In the Magic Kingdom, the building will be featured in a recreation of Prince Eric’s castle. Guests will walk across a bridge over a pond that resembles a beach with the castle on it. A statue of Ariel doing the famous pose in Part of Your World (reprise) will be featured on the left of the bridge. To the left of the attraction is an entrance labeled “Ariel’s Grotto”, suggesting that the meet-and-greet with Ariel will be moved closer to the attraction. [edit]Ride The attraction will be a dark ride, similar to Peter Pan’s Flight and Snow White’s Scary Adventures, but it will have an Omnimover ride system like the one currently in use at the Haunted Mansion. The ride will transport guests under the sea and will focus on many of the major scenes and musical numbers from the movie. Guests will ride in cars themed to resemble large seashells; one car designed for use by wheelchair guests will be themed to resemble Triton’s chariot. Characters will include Ariel, Prince Eric, King Triton, Sebastian, Flounder, and Ursula.[10] Scuttle will narrate the story …
Since 1997, Disneyland has featured “it’s a small world – happy holiday” during the end-of-the-year Christmas and holiday season. The attraction is closed in late-October to receive temporary holiday decorations inside and outside, and reopens in early-November before the start of the busy holiday tourist season. The overlay has proved very popular and at one point during its run needed the use of FASTPASS machines (which have since been removed). The attraction is the same boat voyage through many regions of the world, though the main theme song is not played fully. Instead, the children sing “Jingle Bells” and a bridge of “Deck the Halls” in addition to the main theme. The holiday overlay has since been implemented at Tokyo Disneyland with similar decorations, if not more, than the Disneyland version. From now on the Disney characters and The Spirit of America room (formerly the covered transition room) are joining in the “it’s a small world – happy holiday” at Disneyland. Disneyland Paris’s version used to add subtle decorations around the attraction and changed the music in the North American area to “Deck The Halls”. For the 2009 winter season, Disneyland Paris has added “it’s a small world celebration”, a variation of “it’s a small world – happy holiday” highlighting winter season frolic shared by people worldwide. It includes new costumes, lighting, sounds, decorations and uses the Disneyland (California) version “it’s a small world holiday” music – Jingle Bells …

Originally envisioned in the late 1950s as a walk-through wax museum featuring pirates from history, the attraction evolved into a boat ride through complex show scenes filled with Audio-Animatronics characters after the 1964 New York World’s Fair, which brought about several advances in Disney’s theme park technologies. Instead, humorous sketches of fictional pirates by Imagineer Marc Davis inspired the animatronic diorama seen throughout the final attraction. Opening on March 18, 1967, Pirates of the Caribbean was Disneyland’s largest Audio-Animatronics project to date and was the last attraction Walt Disney was involved in designing. The portrait of the female pirate above the bar in the Crews Quarters scene is an original work by Davis. The pirate captain in the scene where captured women are auctioned as brides is a test bed for updates and developments to Audio-Animatronics technology; many innovations are tried on him first. As a result, his movements are far more lifelike and expressive than virtually any other Audio-Animatronics figure in all of Disneyland.disneyland disneyland disneyland disney’s california adventure disney’s california adventure adventureland tomorrowland fantasyland toontown magic kingdom animal epcot frontierland vintage retired yesterland old home movies great moments lincoln main street usa cinema star tours space mountain honey i shrunk the audience captain eo peoplemover mission to mars america sings innoventions skyway autopia carousel …

The white-by-day/glowing blue-by-night boardwalk-themed coaster was designed by Walt Disney Imagineering, and was built by Intamin AG. California Screamin’ is the 6th longest roller coaster in the world (2nd longest steel coaster in the United States), at 6072 feet (1850 m) long. It is also the longest ride with an inversion (since the loop has been removed from the 7000+’ Son of Beast). Its highest point is 120 feet (37 m) tall (36.5 m) followed by a 108-foot (33 m) drop. The appearance is such that it resembles a wooden coaster, despite clearly being a steel coaster. This coaster is more uncommon than most, as it uses Linear Induction Motors (LIMs), to launch the train up the first hill, replacing the traditional lift hill chain. The seaside launch ramp also sports a wave-machine that allows waves to crash alongside the rock base of the ramp as well as crashing up onto the trains before launch. This coaster is one of Disney’s fastest attractions, accelerating guests from zero to 59 miles per hour (95 km/h) in four seconds at the launch, and like Space Mountain and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster the roller coaster is set to music. California Screamin’ is the only inverting ride in the Disneyland Resort. This attraction offers both FASTPASS and Single Rider entrances. Disney has also announced that California Screamin’ will continue to operate as part of the 1.1 billion dollar rennovation of the park. On December 11, 2007, California Screamin’ was closed and its bunny hills were …
After the rise in popularity of Walt Disney’s film adaptation of Winnie the Pooh, Disney Imagineers made plans in the late 1970s for a Winnie the Pooh attraction at Disneyland’s soon-to-be renovated Fantasyland. However in 1983, when the renovated Fantasyland reopened, a Winnie the Pooh attraction was notably absent. the success of the 1988 film Who Framed Roger Rabbit, plans were made for a new section of the park located behind Fantasyland. Called Mickey’s Toontown, this section of the park would recreate the Toontown that was seen in the film. One of the rides that would have gone on the east side of this land was a Winnie the Pooh dark ride in which guests would ride in “spinnable” honey pots (much like the teacups in Fantasyland) through what was conceptualized as the best scenes from the three Winnie the Pooh featurettes. The ride fell through before it could be made, though, and the space that this ride was to have taken up and vehicle design of this ride were worked into Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin. Seven years later, during a period when the character was undergoing a resurgence in popularity, plans for a Winnie the Pooh attraction were approved at a different park: Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. That park’s Fantasyland, much larger than the original Disneyland’s, had the space to easily accommodate a new attraction. However, planners instead decided to utilize an existing structure, that of the Fantasyland attraction Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride. When some fans …
After the death of Michael Jackson on June 25, 2009, Captain EO regained popularity on the Internet. For several years, a small group of fans had petitioned Disney to bring back the attraction and Jackson’s death had brought this campaign to a peak. Soon afterward, Disney officials were seen in Disneyland at the Magic Eye Theater and reportedly held a private screening of Captain EO to determine if it could be shown again. It was rumored that Disneyland would announce the return of the attraction at Disneyland in September.[citation needed] However, on September 10, Disney CEO Bob Iger said, “There aren’t plans to bring back Captain EO at this time … We are looking at it. It’s the kind of thing that, if we did it, would get a fair amount of attention and we’d want to make sure we do it right.”[7] On December 18, 2009, it was announced that Captain EO would return to Tomorrowland at Disneyland beginning in February 2010. Social and Print Media Manager Heather Hust Rivera from Disneyland Resorts confirmed this on the DisneyParks Blog and stated that Honey, I Shrunk the Audience! would be closing. The attraction hosted its final public showing in the Magic Eye Theater at midnight on January 4, 2010 to make way for the Michael Jackson film’s return. The attraction, now entitled Captain EO Tribute, re-opened at Disneyland Park on February 23, 2010.[8] The attraction returned to Discoveryland at Disneyland Park (Paris) on June 12, 2010, returned to Epcot at Walt Disney World …
Designed by Walt Disney Imagineering and inspired by Disney·Pixar’s Toy Story franchise, the attraction was first unveiled during a press conference at Walt Disney World in January 2007. The Florida version opened officially on May 31, 2008,[2][3] while the California version officially opened on June 17, 2008.[4][5] A new version of the attraction will be constructed at Tokyo DisneySea and is expected to open in 2012.[6] Concept Park guests wear 3-D glasses (Carnival Games Goggles) aboard spinning vehicles that travel through virtual environments based on classic carnival midway games.[7][8] Ride vehicles seat up to four in back-to-back pairs. Mini-games The attraction features five mini-games after a practice round, each of which includes at least one “Easter egg” that can trigger additional targets or gameplay changes. These games include: * Pie Throw Practice Booth (pie toss target practice game, a no points introduction) * Hamm & Eggs (egg throw game now featuring Buttercup from Toy Story 3 * Rex and Trixie’s Dino Darts (dart throw game; once Bo Peep’s Baa-loon Pop) * Green Army Men Shoot Camp (baseball throw / plate breaking game) * Buzz Lightyear’s Flying Tossers (ring toss game) * Woody’s Rootin’ Tootin’ Shootin’ Gallery (suction cup shooting game) Each guest’s score is recorded by an onboard display screen as points are acquired with individual toy cannons firing simulated projectiles at virtual targets. Toy Story characters including Woody, Hamm, Buzz Lightyear …
Disney’s World of Color is a new night time show scheduled to premiere in 2010 at Disney’s California Adventure, part of the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. Designed by Walt Disney Creative Entertainment, this show is planned to have 1200 fountain nozzles[1] with 1200 individually controlled underwater LEDs, one for each nozzle, and is scheduled to include lasers, lights, & fire with a water spray backdrop screen similar to the ones used in Fantasmic! at Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. With the exception of New Years events, this will be the first show on Paradise Bay since LuminAria in 2001.
Walt Disney Imagineering Blue Sky Cellar opened October 20, 2008, replacing the old Seasons of the Vine Theater at Disney’s California Adventure at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. The exhibit is a preview center intended to promote upcoming attractions coming to the park, such as the The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Adventure dark ride, Silly Symphony Swings, Goofy’s Sky School roller coaster, the Disney’s World of Color water show, Buena Vista Street and the Cars Land themed areas. A preview film can be viewed in the Blue Sky Cellar, that features Imagineers talking about the upcoming attractions. The film will be updated as the progress of construction continues.
