“It’s a small world” – A Walt Disney World Attraction

        Thursday, December 30th, 2010

At Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, few attractions are more magical than the iconic “It’s a small world” boat ride. It features 400 brightly costumed audio-animatronic dolls in the style of children of the world, frolicking in a spirit of international unity, and singing the ride’s title track, which has a theme of global peace. Enjoy the ride in its entirety!

        It’s A Small World Disneyland 2010

        Thursday, December 23rd, 2010

The Happiest Cruise that has ever sailed. The attraction’s whimsical design was done by Mary Blair, who was also an art director on several Disney animated features (including Cinderella and Peter Pan). Like many Disneyland and Walt Disney World attractions, scenes and characters were designed by Marc Davis, while his wife, Alice Davis, designed the costumes for the dolls. Many of the dolls were created by Joyce Carlson who is honored with a shop window along the Magic Kingdom’s Main Street USA The sign there reads “Dolls by Miss Joyce, Dollmaker for the World.” The ride was completed in nine months, the shortest amount of time it has ever taken to create a Disneyland attraction. Disneyland’s version was closed from January to November, 2008, to receive a major refurbishment.[3][4][5] The building’s structure was improved, and the attraction’s boats and water flume were replaced. The refurbishment added 29 Disney characters, and the New Guinea Room was transformed into a North America Room, while the New Guinea scene’s figures, props, and set pieces were relocated to the South Seas Room. Sylvania agreed to sponsor the ride for 12 years. Sylvania created a new marque for the ride. The outer façade of the building at Disneyland presents stylized cutout turrets, towers, and minarets vaguely reminiscent of world landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and the Leaning Tower of Pisa. A major feature is Rachels gigantic, three-dimensional clock with a happy face that swings back and

        Disneyland AAA Vacation?

        Tuesday, November 16th, 2010

Hey! i have a trip to disneyland coming up on august 14th and my family booked it through AAA. Our package is supposed to include collectibles(lanyards, luggage tags, pins), preferred seating for Turtle Talk with Crush, a Disney Dream Coin, and Magic Morning into Fantasyland, and Mickey’s ToonTown Morning Madness. i think the package was just called "Disney’s Resort Magic Package" or "Disneyland’s Resorts Magic Package". i was just wondering when and where we would receive these items or if we have to claim them at the Resort. If it makes any difference, we’re staying at the Grand Californian. Thanks for the help!

Disneyland California: it’s a small world: August 2010

        Thursday, November 11th, 2010

No copyright infringement intended. Like several other Disneyland attractions, “It’s a Small World” originated with the 1964 New York World’s Fair (it was Pepsi’s pavilion.) After the fair closed, the ride was transferred to Disneyland and officially opened in 1966. It is argued that the song is the most performed and most widely translated song on earth. The attraction’s whimsical design was done by Mary Blair, who was also an art director on several Disney animated features (including Alice In Wonderland, Cinderella and Peter Pan). Like many Disneyland and Walt Disney World attractions, scenes and characters were designed by Marc Davis, while his wife, Alice Davis, designed the costumes for the dolls. As noticed, the face on the animated dolls are all identical (hence, “it’s a small world”). The design of the face was created and delivered by New York (Valley Stream) artist, Gregory S. Marinello. Walt was personally involed with Gregory’s development of the dolls facial design. Disneyland-Vacation Video. 1992.

        Tuesday, September 7th, 2010

This is my Disneyland Vacation Video. I bet there are people out there who like the different signs in front of Disneyland like I do, here is one in 1992. We see and go thru the parking lot which is now Disney’s California Adventure, thats neat. We get are tickets and see how much they were back in 1992. We go see Goofy and Roger Rabbit on Main Street USA and ride the horse Trolly up Main Street then go to Critter Country and see Bear Country Jamboree. Go to tomorrowland and board Star Tours and then go to Fantasyland and board It’s a Small World, and see a bit of the World According to Goofy Parade. We take the horse trolly back down Main Street while the Dapper Dans are crooning music to us from them sitting or standing in back of the Trolly. Minnie Mouse posing with children and a Disneyland band playing on Main Street. See you all at Disneyland!

          Disneyland

          Saturday, July 3rd, 2010

California travel expert Veronica Hill and husband Jason Hill of Chef Tips share their guide to Disneyland California in this episode of “California Travel Tips.” In this Disneyland video, we’ll take you on a tour of the Disneyland Resort and share some of our favorite Disneyland tips with you. Try to buy your Disneyland tickets online so you don’t have to hassle with the lines when you arrive. If you’re staying in one of the Disneyland hotels, you can enjoy Magic Mornings, which allows early access into the park. If you live in Southern California, it’s worth your while to buy the Disneyland annual pass instead of a Disneyland ticket. It pays for itself after only three visits. Disneyland Park is home to eight different lands spread across 85 acres. You can pick up a Disneyland map when you pass through the gates. Be sure to check out the most popular Disneyland rides first, as they usually have the longest lines. Always try to use the Disneyland Fastpass service. At the guest information board, you can find out about Disneyland character appearances, or the next Disneyland parade showtimes. Disneyland hours are extended during the summer until around midnight. Check their Web site for the daily schedule. In this video, Veronica and Jason check out Splash Mountain, Disneyland Matterhorn and the Disneyland Haunted Mansion, which takes on a whole new feeling during the Disneyland holiday. Other fun Disneyland Christmas attractions include Reindeer Roundup in Frontierland

          Disneyland 1968

          Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

***PLEASE READ*** If you’re a disney fan interested in old footage from the park and hoping to see more, please know that this is the extent to what I have. I recently discovered an old VHS tape of some 8mm film transfers that I had long believed to be destroyed. Most of the footage would be wildly dull to anyone else, but I figured these sections might serve some purpose for those who are fans of either Disneyland or Old Faithful. And, yes, that’s me as an infant in the very beginning. I was a little too short to ride on the tea cups at the time… music by Kevin MacLeod www.incompetech.com Cool site for people curious about Disneyland attractions and rides that have come and gone www.yesterland.com
