As far as hotels, Bangkok has hundreds. So go about your question differently. How much can you afford, what do you need in a hotel (incl. breakfast, pool, 2-5 star, etc).

The typical tourist attactions, Grand Palace complex, Reclining Buddha, some of the shopping centers, a few temples, a boat ride on the Chayo Praya river, the Rama V house and museum houses around it, etc., all all interesting and can be done in a day or two. Bangkok is easy to get around, for the most part. Taxis as cheap, try to travel in off rush-hour periods if you can. You can see a big chunk of Bkk in 2-3 days. But don't try to see it all, you'll be templed out, dragged out from the heat and the pollution, etc. So do some, come back again for more.

Money is the Key about hotels, and restaurants, as you can get a street meal for 40 baht, or elegance for 4000 baht, and everything inbetween.
